KARMA BAKER’S CROWDFUNDING INVESTMENT CAMPAIGN KICKS OFF WITH A HEALTHY BANG
Successful Start Engine Launch Proves the Insatiable Demand for their Plant-Based and Gluten-Free Desserts
Westlake Village, Ca. Karma Baker, the 100% plant-based, 100% gluten-free bakery that’s revolutionizing dessert, is pleased to announce the launch of its first investment campaign. Karma Baker’s crowdsourcing campaign went live on the popular platform Start Engine. In just ten days it has already surpassed its initial goal of $40,000 from 40 investors, demonstrating a recognition of the marketplace demand for their healthy desserts.
Karma Baker’s sales have soared during the past two years and not just from those seeking vegan and gluten free options. They successfully pivoted during the pandemic and focused on their online sales, which have organically increased on average 160% each year since 2018. Their success tracks the global trend: the market for plant based foods is skyrocketing, expecting to reach $162 billion within the decade according to a report by Bloomberg Intelligence. The U.S. retail for plant-based in 2020 grew 27 percent bringing the total plant-based market value to $7 billion. More than 50% of millennials are trying to incorporate plant-based and unprocessed foods into their diet.
“We’re thrilled that so many investors are recognizing the demand for our mouth-watering cookies, cakes and pies taste. We spent years creating our own butter and egg substitutes when there weren’t many choices in the marketplace. As our customers know, we specialize in creating rich and satisfying desserts with a surprising taste and texture, just like the “real thing” while helping the planet by reducing the impact animal-based products have on our climate,” said Celine Ikeler, the founder and head baker of Karma Baker.
Karma Baker has sold and baked over 700,000 items. As their on-line sales have expanded, they’ve perfected a safe, sustainable packaging and delivery process, so that every dessert that gets sent out arrives just as fresh as it was at the bakery, undamaged.
