The Best Summer Time Cake!

So who is the best bakery in town? Like, of ALL the bakeries in Los Angeles, who's your favorite? I hope that bakery is us now, but before you were vegan or Gluten free? When I think back about my personal favorites, Portos is the top of my list. They are amazing. When i first moved to LA in 1997, I lived in Burbank. A stone's throw from my animation Job in Hollywood. And walking distance to one of the many Porto's Bakeries. At this point in my life, i had no food allergies (that i knew of) and i frequented that place every chance i could! The mango mousse cake was my go-to Party cake! I brought that cake everywhere! As a baker, I get inspiration often and refer to the basic when I want to create something new. Using the best recipes and converting them is actually my specialty. Why start from scratch, when you can start from amazing?! And why recreate the wheel when there are so many great food s out there that was as GF or Vegan can't partake in. Inclusion babes! that's what it's all about.

This summer I got an email from my old time favorite, Porto's about their Milk'N Berries cake®! Not only, did i want to eat that frickin' cake, but i started thinking about our own version. Since i know, you all might be pretty into this cake as well! And here's what we came up with on our first try.We made a few for the 4th of July weekend for the storefront and I think it's a keeper! At least during berry season and the hot summer months.

This cake ships and its available to pickup in Westlake Village - order ahead in case you might be disappointed if we are sold out. Beauties like this don't stick around in the fridge long at the shop.
